There are huge struggles of people everywhere, and even revolutions can happen, with very often poor information and sometimes almost no news at all.
To put the record straight, we invite people to speak for themselves, to tell their own stories. In their own language.
And to tell stories completely, we need texts of twenty pages minimum. Each story needs to be explained completely to be well understood. Then, we’ll have to translate, at least into English and French, to make a truly international magazine. Each story will make ebooks in several languages, including text, images or sound, authors being free to express themselves by any means.
These ebooks will be sold one euro, with just two pages on free access. The benefit of the first three thousand sales go to the author or to the translator for translated versions. In case the ebook sells more than 3000 copies, the rest of the money goes to the non profit information system who will need to pay it’s technical means, webmasters, editors – who all work for free to begin. But before our staff, we\’ll have to pay for the printing of it’s paper edition in french, Maintenant, a magazine that we intend to republish for it’s twentieth anniversary, next january, celebrating a time where there was not much internet but just as many problems with the quality of our information, problems that this magazine intended to confront then, just as we wish to do again today. Maintenant will be distributed for free to nearby places, or sent through mail orders.
It’s the website of this magazine, maintenant.media, that will host the data base of long articles designed to draw a state of today’s world from the point of view of people’s struggles.
From Reykjavik to Hong Kong, today’s crisis is igniting people’s desire to change the rules and the rulers, for a better world.
Little or nothing is clear about what has unfolded in Bahrein or Yemen, as in so many countries around the world shaken by revolutionary movements since the beginning of this century.
But from Tripoli to Damascus or Kiev, just as news, minds seem to be as confused as possible.
To get our information we want to ask to the better informed people, preferably those who fight and often suffer, those who live the story themselves, to tell us what happens, with as little ideology and as much accuracy as possible.
Getting to know what we need to know – against racism and sexism, in favor of freedom, democracy and justice –, is not a luxury, but the only way to go ahead on the path of this world revolution. Information is a fight, and we must fight that war first.
To be efficient, activists and researchers also need wages, and that’s why these texts are sold first for their benefit. Also, information must be accessible to all, and that’s why translators are necessary, and they need to be payed too. But there will be no anticopy device on our ebooks, and we insist on the fact that when people send one euro or more to reward the author, translators and others, it’s a gift we ask for, as we give our time today, to make possible this information network. Public is asked to give one euro, or more, in exchange of a synthesis of news tending to provide a complete picture, the most accurate as possible, of what it is about, with not only the facts but also their meaning. After two months, the author may sell or give his ebook by himself, at his choice, this being meant to help spreading his work as much as possible.
Our global information system intends to link activists from all over the world, but it will also devote itself specifically to some countries, and we hope to see a tunisian as well as a japanese bureau, for instance, adding themselves to the french one that we are now organizing in Paris.
